Our family is so happy to announce that Tal started his new job as a network administrator for a large, well-known company on Wednesday. Tal will be working 2nd and/or 3rd shift and providing tech support for customers in Australia.
After working for the same organization for 15 years, Tal is basically starting over. Tal is taking a 20% pay cut to get "his foot in the door" and gain some experience. However, we trust that this position will lead to opportunities for advancement within the next 6-12 months.
In addition, we're thankful that Tal has a shorter commute (8 miles now vs. 25 miles before), which means Tal will be spending less time on the road and $200 less in gas each month. To save on childcare expenses, Tal and I are also considering putting Savannah in daycare part-time (if we can figure out a creative way to coordinate work and preschool schedules).
It will take some time for our family to adjust to Tal's new work schedule (3:30-midnight). Not only is Tal adjusting to a new sleep schedule, but we're trying to make sure that Savannah is taken care of and household chores get done--even though we see other only twice a week. Even with all these changes, Tal and I are determined to maintain communication and maximize our family time together.
Congrats, Tal!
