Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random iPhone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,
but they capture everyday moments from the last couple weeks.

On February 15, Savannah and I got pedicures to celebrate her birthday:

On a Friday night, we got Krispy Kreme Donuts for dessert after dinner:

Hadley loved wearing her Krispy Kreme hat (upside down):

Hadley watched the donuts go through the hot glazing machine:

Sisterly Love

Tal showed his love for Hadley by buckling her shoes before church:

Over the last couple weeks, I have been transitioning the girls' clothes from winter to spring/summer. In the picture below, I put away Hadley's winter clothes. I kept 5 long-sleeve tops and 5 pairs of pants in Hadley's closet. I picked out 7 spring/summer outfits from the boxes below and put them in her closet.  I also sorted and boxed up Hadley's 3T clothes, and Tal put them in the attic.

Hadley has carried her baby and backpack everywhere this week:

She loves to fill her bag and pretend that she's going shopping:

Hadley jammed on Savannah's guitar:

Savannah drew this picture for Grandma Judy and Aunt Renee and asked them to bring coloring books and games when they come to visit us in July:

Last Thursday after school, the girls and I went swimming at the YMCA in our neighborhood:

After taking showers at the Y, the girls and I ate dinner at the Waffle House. We had a girls night because Tal had to work late and didn't get home until after the girls went to bed:

On Friday night, our family ate dinner at a burger shop downtown:

The girls loved putting items in their shopping carts at Food Lion:

Hadley looked adorable holding her baby in the car:

For our meals this week, Tal baked a turkey, while Savannah and I made chicken enchiladas:

I cooked the chicken and Spanish rice, while Savannah assembled the enchiladas. She spread the chicken on the tortillas, sprinkled some cheese, and then rolled up the enchiladas.

On Sunday afternoon, the girls and I took advantage of the warm weather and got some exercise by walking to the public library in our neighborhood:

It took us 17 minutes to walk to the library, which is located one mile from our house:

Hadley checked out her books at the library:

Grandma Weekend

Grandma Barbara came to visit us this weekend! While Grandma was here, we enjoyed celebrating Savannah's birthday, participating in the annual sweet potato bagging event, and playing at the park.

Savannah was excited to open her birthday gifts from Grandma Barbara, which included some money, several dresses, and gymnastics clothes:

On Saturday morning, the five of us went to a local church, where we joined an estimated 300 volunteers in bagging 40,000 lbs of sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were grown on former NFL player Jason Brown's First Fruits Farm near Louisburg, NC. He follows the Bible by donating the first fruits of his crop to hunger relief in our community. The bags of sweet potatoes will be picked up by dozens of food pantries in central NC.

Before we arrived, a semi had dumped several large piles of sweet potatoes in the church parking lot:

In each bag, we put 7-8 sweet potatoes, so the bag was about the size of a basketball:

Then, Tal tied the bags...

...and added them to the pile of sweet potatoes, so volunteers could load them into the truck:

The sweet potato pile was almost as tall as Savannah!

After 1.5 hours, we were done bagging the sweet potatoes!

Savannah and Hadley enjoyed climbing the big hill behind the church:
