Strawberry Picking

Today the girls and I enjoyed strawberry picking at a local farm with our friends Amanda and Tyson. Savannah and Hadley selected red, juicy strawberries for smoothies, while Amanda and Tyson picked berries for strawberry shortcake.

After filling a bucket with strawberries, we ate a picnic lunch at the farm, as well as played in the play area and ate homemade ice cream for dessert. Today was a beautiful spring day to get some fresh air, enjoy the sunshine, and spend time with friends!

Spring Vacation 2019: Part 5 (Pawleys Island)

On April 10, the girls and I, along with Grandma Judy, took a day trip to Pawleys Island, SC. It was a 45-minute car ride from our hotel to Pawleys Island.

Pawleys Island has 140 residents. It is a narrow, barrier island that is 4 miles long and accessible by two bridges. Salt water marshes separate the island and the mainland. The island includes a narrow beach, a row of houses, a two-lane road, and marshes.

Much to our surprise, the island was private and uncommercialized. We didn't see any stores, restaurants, or hotels...only houses, a church, a police station, and a couple inns.

After parking in the public beach access lot, Grandma Judy and I sat in our chairs on the beach, while Savannah and Hadley played in the sand and dipped their toes in the ocean. We enjoyed exploring Pawleys Island!

Spring Vacation 2019: Part 4 (Hotel)

During our spring vacation, the girls and I and Grandma Judy didn't do much sightseeing in Myrtle Beach. Instead, we preferred to relax on the beach and use our hotel's amenities. We spent three nights at the Dunes Village Resort. We loved that it was an oceanfront hotel with an indoor water park and outdoor playground.

We spent many hours at our hotel's indoor water park, which included two pools, three hot tubs, two water slides, and several water fountains.

Spring Vacation 2019: Part 3 (Fun in the Sun)

On April 11, after visiting Broadway at the Beach in the morning, the four of us went to the beach in the afternoon. Grandma Judy and I relaxed in our beach chairs, while the girls played in the sand. We were blessed with sunny and warm weather in the 70's. It was such a blessing to escape the busyness of life and to have time to rest, relax, and make memories together.

Spring Vacation 2019: Part 2 (Broadway at the Beach)

On April 11, the girls and I, along with Grandma Judy, slept late and then visited Broadway at the Beach, which is a popular place to shop and eat in Myrtle Beach. We enjoyed visiting some stores, eating ice cream, and feeding the fish in the lagoon!

Spring Vacation 2019: Part 1 (Beach Bums)

On April 9, the girls and I kicked off our spring vacation with Grandma Judy by driving three hours to Myrtle Beach, SC. After we checked into our hotel, we hit the beach. Grandma Judy and I relaxed in our beach chairs and watched the ocean waves, while Savannah and Hadley played in the sand. It was a warm and cloudy day...but the rain stayed away!
