NC State Fair

Last Sunday, the three of us, along with Grandma Barbara, went to the NC State Fair. The fair is one of our favorite annual events!

For weeks, we've been dreaming about eating steak sandwiches, deep fried pecan pie, and funnel cakes.

Do you remember our love affair with the deep fried pecan pie at last year's fair?

We've also been looking forward to sharing the fair with Savannah for the first time. The weather was windy and chilly, but thankfully the rain stayed away while we ate and visited the exhibits.

Tal and his division of the NC Department of Agriculture played a small part in the State Fair. For instance, Tal and his colleagues weighed this year's contenders for the heaviest watermelon and pumpkin. As shown below, the biggest watermelon weighed in at 211 lbs. The heaviest pumpkin weighed 276 lbs.

One of the highlights of the day was having Savannah weighed at the fair. (Tal's division had a booth where they weighed fairgoers on a calibrated scale.)

Here's a picture of our smiling Savannah sitting on the scale. She weighed 19.6 lbs.!

8 Months Old!

I am 8 months old!

I am learning how to drink from a sippy cup.

I love looking at myself in the mirror.

I got my blue eyes from my daddy.
Maybe someday I'll have more hair on top
of my head like Daddy, too. :-)

I have two bottom teeth!

I'm learning how to feed myself.

I haven't started crawling yet...

...but I'll be on the move any day now.

Right now I enjoy scooting around on the floor...

...and playing with my toys

...and talking to Mommy and Daddy

...and waving my arms.

I'm a happy girl!

Parade of Homes

This afternoon Savannah and I went on the Parade of Homes with my friend Emily and her baby Xavier.

The Parade of Homes is one of my favorite annual (and free!) events. I always love to see the latest trends in hardware, flooring, and paint colors.

We had a wonderful time walking through five new homes in the $500,000- $1 million price range. Not only did Emily and I get some decorating ideas, but we also got our exercise carrying our babies up and down all the stairs! :-)

Finger Food

Over the last five weeks, Savannah has been learning how to eat small pieces of puffed cereal that Tal and I feed her. Today, however, for the first time Savannah picked up each puff by herself and put it in her mouth--just like a pro!

Watch Savannah feed herself for the first time--just like a big girl!

Happy Birthday, Tal!

Yesterday my sweet husband turned 36 years old! Over the last few days, Tal has been blessed by the many family members who have called, stopped by, or eaten with us to celebrate his birthday.

For instance, on Thursday night, we enjoyed seeing Tal's Granddaddy and Alice who came to visit us and play with Savannah.

On Saturday, Tal golfed 36 holes with his Uncle Kevin. Grandma Barbara, Savannah, and I walked through 6 new homes on the Parade of Homes, ate Dairy Queen Blizzards, and went shopping for Savannah's Halloween costume (pictures to come).

In the evening, all of us (plus Aunt Angie) ate dinner at 42nd St. Oyster Bar, which is one of Tal's favorite restaurants.

Not only is the seafood tasty at 42nd St., but it's also where Tal proposed to me in December 2006 and where our wedding rehearsal dinner was held in May 2007. Ahhh...memories. :-)
