Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random phone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,
but they capture everyday moments from this week.

This week our family finished our second week of being quarantined. We also learned that school will be closed until May 15. Tal and I are very blessed to have jobs and to be able to work from home, but it is very stressful working 8 hours a day AND teaching and taking care of the girls. However, every day we make time for outdoor play, crafts, games, cooking, and puzzles.

Hadley and I used a recipe from Grandma Barbara to make chocolate chip pancakes out of a muffin mix.

Hadley practiced flipping the pancakes:

Hadley did my makeup:

We live in a large neighborhood with many subdivisions. During our daily walks, the girls and I have been exploring different parts of our neighborhood. One day, we walked to a subdivision named Savannah and a street named Victoria (Hadley's middle name). Notice that Savannah is wearing a shirt with her name that she got for her birthday.

On Tuesday, I worked at school, so the girls hung out with Tal while he worked in the bonus room.

Hadley drew a rainbow and emailed it to her preschool teacher:

It was 90 degrees outside this weekend, so the girls put on their swimsuits and washed Tal's truck:

Also, this weekend I ironed, hung, and hemmed Ikea Lenda curtains in our home gym:

By staying home, our family is doing our part to slow the spread of the coronavirus. We're enjoying the extra time for family, relaxation, and exercise, as well as outdoor play, cooking, and home projects.

Tal taught Hadley how to make pancakes:

Grilling turkey burgers and hot dogs

This weekend I painted our dining room Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams. It's the same blue-green color that I painted our home gym a couple weeks ago.

Everyday Moments

Below are some highlights of Hadley at preschool last week:

Last weekend, the girls and I drove four hours to see my friend Emily and her family who live in the Washington, DC area. We stopped at Ikea on our way to Emily's house.

The girls were disappointed that Ikea's play area was closed due to the coronavirus, but we still enjoyed looking at pretty home decor in Ikea's showroom and marketplace.

Emily planned some fun activities for the kids, including an Easter egg hunt in Emily's front yard and backyard:

After the Easter egg hunt, the kids went on a scavenger hunt to find the golden egg. The kids looked for 23 clues that Emily had hidden throughout the house.

During craft time, the kids made suncatchers:

Hadley loved petting Emily's cat Spoof:

After dinner, we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores:

Hadley loves the bubble machine that Emily gave her:

On Sunday, Tal paid $1.60 for gas in our neighborhood:

We picked-up a St. Patrick's Day assortment of Krispy Kreme donuts.
Even the original glazed donuts were green!

Due to the coronavirus, the girls and I are home from school for at least two weeks. Tal and I have been working from home 8 hours a day. It's been challenging juggling work, parenting, and homeschooling, but we're enjoying the relaxed schedule, extra family time, and outdoor play.

Savannah and Hadley pretended they were dentists:

Savannah walked 1.1 miles on the elliptical:

The girls loved playing, coloring, and reading in the back of Tal's truck:

Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random phone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,

On February 23, the girls and I had a girls night, while Tal ate dinner with his F3 buddies. We did 4 things that the girls requested. We played at the park, ate Chinese food for dinner, built a fort in our living room, and watched a princess movie.

On February 25, Tal and Savannah enjoyed attending a Carolina Hurricanes hockey game. Savannah earned two free tickets to the hockey game because she read over 800 minutes during the Readvolution reading contest at her school last fall. Unfortunately, the Canes lost the game, but Tal and Savannah still enjoyed their Daddy-Daughter date.

Hadley got a good report at the dentist and enjoyed choosing a prize from the prize tower.

On Super Tuesday, Savannah came with me while I voted in the primary election, so she could see how the voting process works. (The night before, Tal and I had researched the candidates online and discussed with Savannah why voting is important and how we decided who to vote for.)

Hadley helped me prep our home gym and dining room for painting. She removed 8 outlet covers all by herself. I was so proud of her!

On Saturday morning, the girls helped me paint our home gym Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams.

Rainwashed is a muted blue-green color. I'm working on making our home feel more cohesive by simplifying the colors, patterns, and decor.

On Saturday morning, the Home Depot Kids Workshop was canceled due to the Coronavirus. Tal and the girls picked up the craft kits at Home Depot and then put together their binoculars at home.

The binoculars work!

On Saturday night, Tal and I had our monthly date night, while the girls were at kids camp for four hours. Tal and I ate lasagna for dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants, as well as enjoyed some alone time, adult conversation, and shopping.
