Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random iPhone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,
but they capture everyday moments from the last week.

On September 30, our family enjoyed going to the Caniac Kids Carnival. It was a free event that was sponsored by the Carolina Hurricanes, which is the professional hockey team in our area. (Fans of the Carolina Hurricanes are called "Caniacs."):

The Caniac Carnival signaled the beginning of the hockey season. It was held outside the arena where the Hurricanes play and included inflatables, games, and lots of freebies from local vendors.

This week I celebrated a non-scale victory. Since I've lost 50 lbs, my fingers are skinny enough that I can finally remove my wedding rings...which is something I haven't been able to do for many years. Don't worry, Tal and I are still happily married (and I still wear my rings all the time)!

I also cleaned out my side of the closet and donated three bags of baggy clothes to Goodwill. Now I have plenty of space in my closet for a few new fall clothes that are 3-4 sizes smaller than my old clothes!

We're having our annual family pictures taken in a couple weeks, so this week I tried on some dresses for our photo shoot. I prefer to choose my outfit first because I'm the hardest person to dress and I want to make sure that I feel pretty and confident on picture day. After I pick out my outfit, then I build our family color scheme around my outfit. These are my top two dresses, so we'll either have a burgundy and navy color scheme or a purple and navy color scheme for our family pictures.

On Wednesday afternoon, this man stole three packages from our front step:

On Wednesday morning, I received an email saying that my packages had been delivered, but I didn't see them on our doorstep on Wednesday or Thursday. On Thursday night, when I checked our security camera, I discovered that the UPS man had delivered my packages at 11:58 A.M. on Wednesday morning (just like my email had said):

At 1:08 P.M. on Wednesday afternoon, our security camera showed this man stealing my three packages from our front steps. Grrr! I will be filing a police report, as well as contacting three stores and requesting refunds. Hopefully, I get my money back!

On Thursday, I took Savannah to the pediatrician, who prescribed an antibiotic for Savannah's  infected bug bite on her left thigh:

After 48 hours, the antibiotic wasn't working. Savannah was having a lot of pain, and the infection was spreading. At our pediatrician's recommendation, we took Savannah to the children's ER this afternoon before the tissue in her leg started to deteriorate.

Honestly, going to the ER was an emotional, stressful, and traumatic experience for our entire family, especially Savannah. The nurses had to stick Savannah FOUR times before they found a vein. Then, they hooked up Savannah to an IV and sedated her while they cleaned out the infection on her thigh and packed the wound. As of tonight, Savannah was still emotional and having some pain, but she should be healed within a week.

We're so grateful that Grandma Barbara came to support our family this weekend. A big thanks to Grandma for watching the girls for several hours while we bought Tal's truck this morning. Also, thanks to Grandma for coming to the hospital this afternoon, where she encouraged Savannah and took care of Hadley in the hall during Savannah's procedure:

Savannah is looking forward to playing the Pictionary game that Grandma Barbara bought her today:
