Today Tal and I finished Savannah's play area!
To begin, Tal put down landscape fabric for weed control:
Savannah and I got two scoops of mulch for $28 at the landscape landfill.
Tal raked the mulch into the wheelbarrows, and then I dumped them in the play area:
Then, Tal and I spread the mulch:
The last step was to finish the plastic playground border:
The weather was warmer today with temps in the 50's,
so Tal was able to nail the border stakes into the ground easily:
While Tal and I worked in the backyard, Savannah sat at the picnic table,
ate her snack, and watched a show on the iPad:
Looking through the telescope
Tal and I are happy to be done with Savannah's play area,
and we love the results!
We hope the play area will be a gathering spot for Savannah and her friends...
...and bring them countless hours of outdoor enjoyment for many years to come!
Now that Tal and I are done with Savannah's play area, we are halfway done with our 2014 backyard makeover. We've budgeted $3,000 for the entire project.
Here's a breakdown of our expenses so far:
$1,600 Playset
$400 Plastic Playground Border$60 Landscape Fabric and Stakes
$56 Mulch (4 truckloads)
-----------
$2,116 TOTAL
In April/May, we'll tear up the grass in our backyard and put down new sod!
