Tal's 40th birthday party was a hole-in-one!
Twenty-two family and friends helped us celebrate Tal's milestone birthday at our house:
Tal and his mom
Tal and his Grandma and Granddaddy
Tal and his brother Benny with baby Harper and Savannah
EJ and Savannah
(L-R) Our friend Greg from church, Tal's nephew Brent,
Grandma, Granddaddy, and Tal's Uncle Kevin
Tal's Aunt Angie and our friend Cheryl from church
EJ and sleeping baby Harper
For Tal, one of the best parts of the party was being able to reconnect with
his former colleagues who he hadn't seen since he made a career change 17 months ago:
Cliff, Van, Tal, and Gerald
Savannah and Tal
On our mailbox, I tied a birthday balloon and taped a sign to welcome guests:
Planning Tal's party was a labor of love for me and Savannah
because it gave us an opportunity to show Tal how much we love and appreciate him:
I chose golf as theme for the party since it's one of Tal's favorite hobbies:
To save time, I bought these printable party
decorations from SimoneMadeIt on Etsy:
Then, Savannah and I spent three evenings last week making the
cupcake toppers, water bottle wraps, and birthday banner:
My Cute Helper
Cupcake Toppers
Water Bottle Wraps
(Water Hazard)
Birthday Banner
For centerpieces, Savannah filled apothecary jars with
shredded green paper and 10-12 golf balls:
I dressed up the jars with some green and white dotted ribbon,
which reminded me of golf balls on green grass:
All of the extra details reinforced the golf theme, as well as made
the party more personal and special for Tal:
Some of the food items added some golf humor:
Tee Time
(Sweet Tea from Bojangle's)
Hole-in-One Donuts
from Krispy Kreme
Red Velvet Cupcakes and Tiramisu Cupcakes
from a local baker:
In our garage, Tal made a low country boil in a large pot:
corn-on-the-cob, sausage, potatoes, and shrimp
We also ate corn nuggets and red beans and rice (not pictured):
Tal's mom made some yummy Mahi fish tacos with Asian cole slaw:
After dinner, everyone gathered around to sing "Happy Birthday" to Tal and watch him open his gifts:
(In the background, you can see that I'm getting ready to make and hang curtains in our living room.)
Lordy, Lordy, Tal is 40!
Savannah (aka Ariel The Little Mermaid) helped Tal blow out his birthday candle:
Some guests gave Tal some funny "old man" cards and gifts:
Tal's friend Van gave him some vitamins, diapers, and
prune juice, which Tal thought was hilarious:
When you see Tal's big smiles in the pictures below,
you can see how much he enjoyed his party...
...and all of the "over the hill" cards:
Savannah loved this musical card:
Happy 40th Birthday, Tal!
We love you and wish you many more years of health and happiness!
