Framed

A month ago, our hallway looked like this:

Before

Today our hallway looks like this:

After

I created a picture wall with an assortment of Ribba frames that I picked up at Ikea in June. The inspiration for this project came from one of my favorite DIY blogs. I loved the idea of "wallpapering" our hallway with family photos and mememtos.

During the planning process, I traced the frames, created newspaper templates, and attached them to the wall with painter's tape. Over the next couple days, I arranged and rearranged the templates until all the pieces worked together to create a balanced display.

Then, I used a level and 90 3M Command Strips (which I highly recommend) to hang the pictures and avoid damaging our walls with dozens of nail holes.

In all, I used 29 frames with 4x6, 5x 5, 5x7, and 8x10 pictures. However, the overall effect is subtle and cohesive with the white frames and black and white photos.

Tal and I love the picture wall because it is a reflection of our love for each other and our family. It consists primarily of pictures from our engagement, wedding, and Savannah's first year. It also includes Savannah's artwork and photos of our dads who have passed away.

Next year, I plan to wallpaper the opposite wall with pictures. I look forward to adding and changing the photos, artwork, and mementos as Savannah grows. Stay tuned!
