Illinois Trip: Part 1

From October 4-10, the girls and I had a wonderful time visiting my family and friends in Illinois. While Savannah did her online learning each day, I helped my mom declutter her house and paint some furniture. After school, we played at parks, visited my grandma in the nursing home, and ate dinner with friends and family.

Hadley slept on the flight to Chicago.

From 7:30-2:30 each day, Savannah attended three live Google Meets, as well as completed her Google Classroom assignments.

We enjoyed visiting my grandma in the nursing home. She will be 105 on October 27! We followed the Covid restrictions. Two visitors at a time were allowed for 30-minute visits each day. Masks, social distancing, and temperature checks were required. On some days, outdoor visits were required.

Savannah, Hadley, and Grandma Judy put together three puzzles.

Savannah made brownies.

Hadley loved looking through photo books and pointing at me and my siblings as children.

The farmers harvested the cornfields that surrounded my mom's house.

Hadley helped Grandma Judy water her flowers.

Savannah rode the four wheeler with Mr. Duane.

I spent two days painting a bookcase and chest for my mom. I painted 3-4 coats of soft white paint (Alabaster by Sherwin Williams) to cover the blue paint.

Hadley helped me prime the bookcase.

After

While we were decluttering my mom's house, Hadley discovered a vintage toy phone from my childhood.

I brought home the plate that I drew when I was five years old.

Every day we got some fresh air and exercise at the park.

The girls played at the elementary school where my mom, my siblings, and I attended Kindergarten through 5th grade.
