Grandma's 105th Birthday!

Today my grandma is 105 years old! Grandma is my mom's mom. When the girls and I traveled to Illinois a couple weeks ago, we were blessed to visit Grandma in the nursing home. Happy 105th Birthday, Grandma! We love you!

Illinois Trip: Part 3

During our stay in Illinois, we were blessed with some warm and sunny days. One evening, we took some family photos at a local park with beautiful fall colors.

Illinois Trip: Part 2

During our trip to Illinois, we enjoyed having a family picnic and celebrating Hadley's 6th birthday in my brother Michel's beautiful backyard.

Savannah's New Glasses

Savannah got new glasses! Her glasses prescription has changed quite a bit over the last year. Savannah's new glasses are brown with turquoise and are similar to her previous pair. Her new glasses have a blue light coating to help with eye strain and headaches during online learning. Savannah said that everything is clearer with her glasses!

Illinois Trip: Part 1

From October 4-10, the girls and I had a wonderful time visiting my family and friends in Illinois. While Savannah did her online learning each day, I helped my mom declutter her house and paint some furniture. After school, we played at parks, visited my grandma in the nursing home, and ate dinner with friends and family.

Chicago

Hadley slept on the flight to Chicago.

From 7:30-2:30 each day, Savannah attended three live Google Meets, as well as completed her Google Classroom assignments.

We enjoyed visiting my grandma in the nursing home. She will be 105 on October 27! We followed the Covid restrictions. Two visitors at a time were allowed for 30-minute visits each day. Masks, social distancing, and temperature checks were required. On some days, outdoor visits were required.

Savannah, Hadley, and Grandma Judy put together three puzzles.

Savannah made brownies.

Hadley loved looking through photo books and pointing at me and my siblings as children.

The farmers harvested the cornfields that surrounded my mom's house.

Hadley helped Grandma Judy water her flowers.

Savannah rode the four wheeler with Mr. Duane.

I spent two days painting a bookcase and chest for my mom. I painted 3-4 coats of soft white paint (Alabaster by Sherwin Williams) to cover the blue paint.

Hadley helped me prime the bookcase.

After

While we were decluttering my mom's house, Hadley discovered a vintage toy phone from my childhood.

I brought home the plate that I drew when I was five years old.

Every day we got some fresh air and exercise at the park.

The girls played at the elementary school where my mom, my siblings, and I attended Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Hadley's Birthday Celebrations

Instead of having a birthday party, Hadley requested to spend the night in a hotel with our family. We booked a room two miles from our house. We ate pizza and donuts in our room and swam in the hotel pool. Happy 6th Birthday, Hadley! We love you!

When we got home from the hotel, Hadley opened a birthday card with some money from Gran. Hadley is excited to spend her birthday money at Target this week.

We also sang Happy Birthday to Hadley and Tal and then ate chocolate ice cream cake for dessert. Yum!
