Covid Chronicles: Part 29

Today the NC governor lifted mask and social distancing requirements in most public areas. The girls and I will continue to wear masks at school.

Hadley has been improving her arm strength, and she recently scooted all the way across the bar at the park!

Hadley drew a Mama bumblebee and her baby bee. Buzzzz!

A couple hours after Tal and I put Hadley to bed, we found her asleep in her office chair with her feet propped up on her desk.

Tal loves his new prescription sunglasses that were a generous gift from his mom and brother.

Hadley held Savannah's hands and comforted her during a dental procedure. So sweet!

Savannah assembled the Lego Friends Baking Competition kit with 361 pieces.

Today the girls and I had a remote learning day due to a gas shortage in our area. Hadley completed her Google Classroom assignments in our living room.

Hadley read aloud several books to me.

Savannah finished a 300-piece puzzle that was an illustrated map of the United States.

Hadley turned her closet into a secret hideaway. She loves to spread a blanket on the floor and draw pictures.

Celebration Week

My favorite week of the year starts today...celebrating Mother's Day, our wedding anniversary, and my birthday. I'm thankful for another year of blessings.

Covid Chronicles: Part 28

After school on Tuesday, our family hiked/biked 1.4 miles on the Smith Creek Trail.

On Friday night, the girls played on the new playground at Blue Jay Point, and then we hiked down to Falls Lake.

Can you see the lake through the trees?

Today the girls and I had a playdate at Yates Mill Park with our friends Amanda and Tyson.

We hiked one mile around the pond and then visited the waterfalls at the historic gristmill.

After hiking at Yates Mill Park, we enjoyed eating Howling Cow ice cream, which is located and produced on NC State University's dairy farm.

Over the last two months, Tal and I noticed that our monthly water bill was $100 higher than usual. When the plumber crawled under our house, he discovered a busted water pipe under our master bedroom. The leak caused $12,000 in damage, but thankfully our homeowners insurance paid for the repairs. A restoration crew spent over a week removing the wet insulation, spraying microbial spray, and drying out our crawl space.
