Chincoteague Island

My birthday and Mother's Day gift from Tal and the girls was a weekend trip to Chincoteague Island, VA with my lifelong friend Amanda. Chincoteague Island is a quaint, coastal town that has 3,000 residents and views of the Atlantic Ocean. When I was a child, I read the horse book series Misty of Chincoteague. We visited the Assateague Lighthouse, saw the wild horses, and watched the ocean waves. We enjoyed resting and exploring and look forward to our birthday trip next year!

On our way to Chincoteague Island, we drove through two tunnels.

We ate pasta for dinner at this restaurant.

At sunset, we walked on the waterfront boardwalk.

At the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, we visited the Assateague Lighthouse, sat on the beach, and watched the ocean waves.

The next day we visited Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland, where we saw the wild horses, marshes, and ocean.

There are 150 wild horses on Assateague.

After Assateague, we explored Ocean City, Maryland.

Half Marathon

Today our family cheered for Tal as he ran his first half marathon. Thanks to Barbara, Benny, and Harper for driving three hours to come to the race. We cheered for Tal at mile 8 and at the finish line. Tal ran 13.1 miles in 1 hour 58 minutes...4 minutes faster than his personal best time. We are so proud!

Happy Spring

The girls had Easter Monday off from school. I took the day off from work, so we could spend the day together. We went to Planet Smoothie and played at two parks. The azaleas are blooming!

Spring Road Trip

During our spring break, the girls and I took a road trip through six states (NC, VA, WV, OH, IN, and IL) to visit Grandma Judy in Illinois. We are thankful for safe travel and precious memories, including bowling, playing card games, going to the children's museum, and playing at multiple parks.

1. Playing at the children's museum

2. Playing at various parks

3. Bowling

4. Playing Cat Lady Old Maid

Sleeping on the ride home.
We left Grandma Judy's house at 4:30 AM. It took us 12.5 hours and one stop to arrive home in NC.
