Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random iPhone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,
but they capture everyday moments from the last couple weeks.

On Monday, Tal had the day off from work. It was a workday for me, which means a sub taught my 6 classes so I could work in my office. Tal and I surprised Savannah by bringing her Chick-fil-a for lunch and eating with her in the cafeteria!

On Tuesday night, Savannah, Hadley, and I had a girls night, while Tal was at a work dinner The girls and I ate chicken fingers at Zaxby's because kids eat free on Tuesdays.

Savannah was excited to put money from her piggy bank in the counting machine at the bank. She got $9.66, which she used to buy some songs from iTunes for her iPad:

Hadley wanted to take selfies while we were watching TV:

Hadley, who turned 3 in October, doesn't have any daily chores. However, there are several tasks/chores that she consistently does well (without much prompting):
  • Hadley takes off her shoes when she enters the house.
  • She puts her shoes in her "Hadley" basket in the mud room.
  • She puts her dirty clothes in the laundry basket in our family closet.
  • She picks out her outfit, underwear, and socks for the next day and puts them on top of her dresser.
  • After dinner, she takes her plate and fork to the kitchen sink. (She doesn't have the strength and coordination yet to scrape her plate.)
  • She eats and drinks at the kitchen table. (Tal and I don't allow the girls to walk around the house with food. They keep covered water on the kitchen table in case they get thirsty.)
  • She puts her trash in the trash can.

This afternoon Hadley had her 3-year well visit at the pediatrician:

She weighed 32 lbs, which is in the 50th percentile:

Hadley was 38 inches tall, which put her in the 75th percentile:

Savannah did a great job distracting and helping Hadley, while the doctor checked Hadley's eyes, ears, mouth, heart, etc:

As expected, Hadley got a great report from the doctor. She is healthy and developing appropriately for a 3 year-old. Hadley was excited that she didn't have to get any shots today!

Christmas Card 2017

"You will never have this day with your children again. Tomorrow they will be a little bigger than they were today. This day is a gift. Breathe and notice. Smell and touch them; study their faces and their little feet. Pay attention. Relish the charms of the present. Enjoy today. It will be over before you know it." --Unknown

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Here is our 2017 Christmas card:

In September, we had our annual family photos taken at a local park. In a previous post, I mentioned that, for the first time ever, Savannah and Hadley agreed to wear matching dresses...which made my mama heart so happy! I used the girls' floral dresses as inspiration for our navy and coral color scheme.

I'm looking forward to hanging the canvas below in our home!

Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random iPhone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,
but they capture everyday moments from the last couple weeks.

While Tal got his haircut, the girls and I visited the pet store next door. They loved seeing the fish, birds, dogs, and hamsters:

Last week was eventful and stressful. On Monday, Tal went to urgent care and got some meds for bronchitis and a sinus infection. Our credit card was shut down (again) due to an error on our account. It has been a mess getting this issue resolved. On Tuesday night, my car battery was dead after we ate dinner at Jersey Mike's, so we had to wait an hour for a tow truck:

Savannah put up and decorated her pink Christmas tree in her bedroom:

I grew up near Peoria, IL, so it was fun to see the name "Peoria" when I was shopping at Target:

During our stay at Grandma Barbara's house, Hadley snuggled with Tal on the couch:

On the day after Thanksgiving, our family ate breakfast at Bojangles with Benny, EJ, Harper, and Grandma Barbara before we drove home. Cousins Savannah, Harper, and Hadley hugged one another:

Outside Bojangles, there was a street named "Savannah:"

On our drive back home after Thanksgiving, Hadley loved playing "peeky-boo" with her beloved teal blanket:

On our way home, our family stopped at Grandaddy's house, who lives 1 hr 15 min from us. Tal shares the same name as his Grandaddy:

Yesterday, the girls and I went to library storytime at the public library in our neighborhood. All of the songs and stories were about bears:

Hadley LOVES watching the Wiggles on YouTube. She knows all of the motions to "Hot Potato, Cold Spaghetti" and "Here Comes a Bear:"

Kids Workshop (Christmas Tree Photo Ornaments)

This morning our family went to the free Kids Workshop at Home Depot. Savannah and Hadley made Christmas Tree Photo Ornaments. They enjoyed nailing the pieces together, painting their ornaments, and attaching the stickers. When we got home, Savannah and Hadley cut out a photo of themselves and put it inside the ornament. The Kids Workshop is always a fun family activity that allows Savannah and Hadley to be creative and practice some DIY skills!

Savannah and Hadley receive a pin every time they attend a Kids Workshop, and below are some of the ones Savannah has collected this year:

Hadley wanted a flocked (snowy) tree, so she painted her tree white:
