First Week of School

Savannah started 7th grade this week! She enjoys riding the bus, having a locker, and taking childcare as an elective. (As a side note, seeing Savannah as a 7th grader brings back memories of when I taught 7th grade English Language Arts for 8 years before I became an elementary teacher-librarian 14 years ago.)

Everyday Moments

Random phone photos from everyday life.

Hadley and I played Sight Word Bingo in the park. Hadley won!

Our friends Emily, Xavier, and Felix came to visit, and we enjoyed playing with them at the children's museum.

Hadley got a 100% on her first spelling test in 1st grade!

While Savannah was at a church sleepover, Hadley and I went swimming at a local pool.

The girls and I hung out in our master bedroom, while Tal attended virtual cybersecurity classes.

Hadley had trouble falling asleep, so she crawled in bed with me and fell asleep. Hadley loves to hold the corner of her teal blanket.

Tal and the girls hiked on the Neuse River Trail.

Savannah starts 7th grade tomorrow! Last week she picked up her schedule and walked through her class schedule.

For the first time in 10 months, I measured the girls to see how much they've grown. Hadley will turn 7 in October and is 4 feet 1 inch tall.

Savannah is 12.5 years old and 5 feet 3 inches tall.

Hadley built a tower with 102 red Solo cups.

Hadley started crying and said she wanted Savannah. It was sweet how the girls held each other.

Over the last few weeks, the girls have enjoyed playing at the park a several times each week.

Back to School

Hadley started 1st grade this week! She loves that her teacher Mrs. Williamson reads aloud Junie B. Jones every afternoon and has a Friday dance party. On Friday, Hadley was excited to take her first Letterland spelling test and choose a squishy toy from the class treasure box for good behavior.
