Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random iPhone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,
but they capture everyday moments from this week.

On Wednesday morning, I went to Savannah's year-end celebration in her classroom. Savannah and her partner Gabriela showed me their public service announcement about water pollution that they created with Google Slides:

On Wednesday, I ate lunch in the cafeteria with Savannah for the last time in 3rd grade. (Unfortunately, next year we will different lunch times, so I will only be able to eat with her once a month...instead of every week.)

Due to field day on Wednesday afternoon, Savannah had "lunch" at 10:00 A.M. Since I had a workday, I picked up hot cakes and sausage from McDonald's for her during my lunch/planning period.

On Wednesday afternoon, Savannah had field day at school. She enjoyed playing tug of war, water activities, and relay races with her class.

One evening Tal, Savannah, and I took a bike ride around our street, which is a 1-mile circle. (Hadley was at Grandma Barbara's house this week):

Another evening, the three of us went swimming at the Y in our neighborhood. A couple weeks ago, we renewed our Y membership. Each year Tal receives $800 in wellness credit from his company, so this year we used Tal's wellness credit to pay for our Y membership for the remainder of 2018. Our family enjoys having access to the indoor/outdoor pools, gym facilities, and childcare. Savannah is excited that she is (finally) tall enough to slide down the water slide at the Y:

Tal on the water slide:

In May, the plumber cut a hole in our kitchen ceiling to repair a water leak. After the sheetrock was repaired, Tal sanded and painted the area:

In our upstairs loft area, Tal touched up an old water stain on our ceiling:

We recently got a security system installed at our house. We live in a safe neighborhood, but it gives us peace of mind to know that we have protection if needed:

Savannah's Last Day of 3rd Grade!

Today was Savannah's last day of 3rd grade! She finished the year with 3s in reading, math, science, and social studies...plus a 4 in art class. Savannah is looking forward to 4 weeks of vacation with Grandma Barbara and Grandma Judy before she starts 4th grade on July 27!

Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random iPhone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,
but they capture everyday moments from the last couple weeks.

On Sunday afternoon, the girls and their neighborhood friend Liza enjoyed playing at the free splash pad that's near our house:

Hadley ate a snack in the shade at the splash pad:

Hadley played at the park next to the splash pad:

While Tal got a haircut, the girls and I visited the pet store next door. The girls' favorite animals were the fish and the cats:

Savannah has read 21 chapter books since November!

A couple times a week, the girls enjoy playing with the water hose in our driveway:

Hadley made a fashion statement in her swimming suit and rain boots:

On June 20, Hadley and I met our friend Emily and her boys Xavier and Felix at Three Bears Acres for a playdate:

The kids enjoyed playing in the water:

Emily and Xavier rode a paddle boat:

Over the last five weeks, Tal and I have been following Optavia to help us lose weight and get to a healthy BMI. So far, Tal has lost 22 lbs, and I've lost 17 lbs.  For some of our dinners this week, Tal and I each ate five turkey meatballs from Trader Joe's with one cup of zero pasta and 1/4 cup of Rao's tomato sauce. (Zero pasta is made from the root of a plant and is low-calorie and low carb.):

We also made healthy pizzas at home. We topped a Cali'flour cauliflower pizza crust with 1/4 cup of Rao's tomato sauce, 1/4 cup of reduced fat mozzarella cheese, and 1/4 cup of Jennie O Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage. So yummy!

We also stopped at Sprouts (a health food store) and stocked up on Walden Farms salad dressings, pancake syrup, and barbecue sauce...which are all calorie free, fat free, and sugar free:

Hadley is spending this week at Grandma Barbara's house, so this evening Savannah and I tagged along while Tal went golfing. Savannah read her graphic novel, and I read four magazines, while Tal played a round of golf in less than two hours. We enjoyed spending a relaxing evening outside together!

DC Road Trip

The weekend the girls and I drove four hours to see my best friend Emily and her boys, who moved to the Washington, DC area a year ago. On Saturday, we enjoyed swimming at Emily's neighborhood pool, eating dinner at Chipotle, and watching a movie at bedtime. We miss Emily already and look forward to seeing her again in a couple months!

Savannah jumped off the diving board for the first time...and swam in 8.5 feet deep water!
