Happy Thanksgiving!

For 2.5 hours this morning, our family volunteered outside at a downtown restaurant, where we assembled 700 hot meals for people in our community.

Each meal included turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, a roll, and dessert.

When the meals were ready, volunteers immediately loaded them into vehicles. 150 meals were delivered to senior citizens in a retirement community. 150 meals were delivered to local hospital staff who were working on Thanksgiving Day. 100 meals were passed out at a church in a nearby town. The rest of the meals were delivered to people with special needs, people living in motels, and to people who came to the restaurant for a hot meal.

Tomorrow our family of four will be making and eating our Thanksgiving meal, but today we enjoyed serving others and practicing compassion. Happy Thanksgiving!

Our family worked at the end of the assembly line. Hadley and I were in charge of the rolls. I opened the bags of rolls, and then Hadley separated the rolls and put them in the bread box:

Then, Tal and Savannah put a roll inside and closed the container:

Tal and I were so proud of Savannah and Hadley. They worked hard and had positive attitudes while we served others:

The meals were ready for delivery! Each meal was prepared with love, and we hope the food brightened each person's day today:
