Covid Chronicles: Part 24

Hadley got her first library card! She was excited to check out some new books to read. We are so blessed to have a public library in our neighborhood.

Hadley is celebrating her 100th day of Kindergarten on Friday! Savannah and Hadley hot glued 100 pom poms onto Hadley's T-shirt for Friday.

The girls asked me to braid their hair at bedtime.

Hadley called her drawing "Hadley the Cat."

The girls gave me a spa day! They loved putting on my makeup, putting a warm towel on my face, and massaging my face.

Covid Chronicles: Part 23

This week the girls and I returned to in-person instruction five days a week. On Thursday, we had an asynchronous day with no live classes due to the threat of ice in our area. Thankfully, we only got freezing rain. Savannah finished her assignments early and then spent a few hours building the Lego camper with 778 pieces that Grandma Barbara gave Savannah for her 12th birthday.

I found Hadley's selfie on my phone.

Hadley brought home her name sign that had been on her classroom desk, and we hung it on her bedroom door.

Hadley had her annual eye exam. We ordered her new glasses, which are brown tortoise with lavender on the edges.

First Snowfall of 2021

We had our first snowfall of 2021! In fact, it was our first snow in over a year. (We didn't get any snow in 2020.) We woke up with a couple inches of snow on the ground. The girls had an asynchronous day with no live classes. They enjoyed sleeping late, playing in the snow, and completing their assignments before noon.

Covid Chronicles: Part 22

In January, I lost my sense of taste and smell. Two days later, I tested positive for Covid-19. The health department told me to isolate for 10 days. I lived in our master suite. I took two weeks off from school, so I could focus on my recovery and keep our family safe.

After 10 days of isolation, I didn't have a fever, and my symptoms were improving. The health department allowed me to leave isolation, take off my mask in our home, hug Tal and the girls, and continue quarantining with our family. After a 14-day quarantine, our family was allowed to leave our home because Tal and the girls never showed any symptoms thankfully. I'm still battling fatigue. I can't taste or smell much. Otherwise, I am healthy and thankful that my symptoms were not life threatening.

It was heartbreaking being separated from Tal and the girls for 10 days. Tal texted me this pic of the girls hanging out with him in the bonus room, while I watched TV in our bedroom.

My view during isolation

The girls had to stay home from school for 24 days and returned to school in-person this week.

To celebrate the end of our quarantine, we went shopping at Target, got tiramisu frappuccinos from Starbucks, and played at the park in our neighborhood.

Date night. Celebrating 15 years since our first date (and the end of quarantine)!

Covid Chronicles: Part 21

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the girls are doing remote learning until (at least) mid-February. They attend live classes for most of the day and complete assignments on Google Classroom. Savannah does her lessons in the dining room. Hadley works at the kitchen table. I teach 5-6 virtual classes a day from my makeshift classroom in our master bedroom. Tal works upstairs in the bonus room.

Hadley was so proud of the snowman she created during her virtual art class.
