From October 11-16, the girls and I took our annual road trip from NC to IL to see our family and friends. Instead of traveling 14 hours in one day, we broke up the trip into two days (7.5 hours on the first day and 6 hours on the second day).
After driving 7.5 hours on the first day, we checked into our hotel and went swimming in the pool. We enjoyed burning off some energy after a long day of traveling.
The girls were excellent travelers. As expected, there were a few whiny sessions and sisterly fights, but the girls did a great job being kind and patient with one another...especially considering that we spent 28 hours together in a car in one week.
The girls entertained themselves by listening to music, watching shows on their iPads, coloring, and reading books. (Savannah read three books on our trip!) I listened to 35 podcasts, which helped time pass quickly and made the trip more enjoyable.
The girls and I missed Daddy during our road trip, and we were thrilled to see him when we got home. The girls and I are thankful for the opportunity to see our family and friends in IL, as well as for safe travels, good weather, and minimal traffic and construction on our 1,700-mile road trip through 6 states (North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois)!
