Savannah's Last Day of 4th Grade

Today was Savannah's last day of 4th grade! A lot has changed over the last year. Savannah has gotten braces and new glasses and and is now 5 feet tall.

I am so thankful for our school. The teachers do more than just teach Savannah. They love her, challenge her, and help her grow academically and socially. They are the reason Savannah looks forward to going to school each day.

Also, I'm thankful that our school creates a sense of belonging for Savannah. Over the last year, she has enjoyed doing Chorus, Yearbook Club, and Junior Librarians...where she has made new friends, learned new skills, and served others.

Now that this school year is done, Savannah is looking forward to 4 weeks of vacation with Grandma Barbara and Grandma Judy before she starts 5th grade on July 29!

Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.
These random iPhone photos are dark, blurry, and untouched,
but they capture everyday moments from the past week.

Hadley might have some artistic ability, especially when it comes to her use of color and details. Hadley told me that this is a picture of her at the Y pool. At the top, the purple circles are beach chairs around the pool. At the bottom, Hadley drew the purple and pink ice cream stand that was selling ice cream at the Y recently. On the right side, Hadley drew a blue and green jellyfish (to represent the jellyfish we saw on the beach on Pawleys Island in April).

This weekend Savannah noticed that the laundry basket was filled with dirty clothes. Without being asked, she carried the basket to the laundry room and then washed, dried, and sorted the clothes into four piles (one pile for each member of our family). I was so proud of Savannah for showing initiative and responsibility!

On Saturday and Sunday morning, Savannah mixed up the batter and made pancakes for her and Hadley:

Hadley is excited to start preschool on July 29!

This afternoon, Savannah enjoyed sunbathing on our driveway...

...while Hadley played with the water hose:

Father's Day 2019

Happy Father's Day to our favorite dad! Tal spent his special day doing what he does every day: loving us, serving us, and spending time with us. He helped me do chores, helped Savannah study for her end-of-grade math test, colored a picture with the girls, and took us out for frozen yogurt. We love and appreciate you, Tal!

Hadley drew a golf club for Tal...

...and made a Father's Day card using her handprint to represent a frog:

Savannah spent a lot of time coloring a card for Tal and writing some of the things she knows and loves about him:

1. Tal cheers for NC State.
2. He enjoys watching and playing golf.
3. Savannah likes when Tal rides bikes with her.
4. Savannah likes when Tal plays games with her.
5. Savannah likes when Tal helps her with her homework.
6. Savannah likes when Tal cheers for her.
7. Savannah likes when Tal watches her do gymnastics.
8. Savannah likes when Tal helps her do stretches.
9. Savannah likes when Tal swims with her and Hadley.

Hadley's tissue paper art:

Over the last few weeks, Savannah and Hadley have made these Perler bead crafts...

...and like seeing them displayed on our fireplace mantel:

Hadley took a selfie of her make-up:

After Grandma Barbara's retirement party on Friday, Tal, Barbara, and Benny repaired Barbara's fence that was damaged last September during Hurricane Florence:

Thanks to Aunt EJ for bringing popsicles to the pool on Friday afternoon.
Savannah, Harper, and Hadley loved their cool treat!

Barbara's Retirement Party

Happy Retirement to Tal's mom Barbara who retired this week after 35 years of teaching! Today our family celebrated Barbara's retirement with her colleagues at a waterfront restaurant. We enjoyed eating a delicious lunch and listening to Barbara's friends recognize her accomplishments. Congrats, Barbara! We're so proud of you!

After the retirement party, Aunt EJ and I took the girls swimming at the neighborhood pool for three hours:

Everyday Moments

Life...unedited.

This week Savannah read three books in the Popularity Papers series!

Check out some of Hadley's crafts and artwork:

Hadley did a beautiful job painting a tree:

This weekend Tal had a wonderful time following the golfers during to the pro golf tournament in our neighborhood. While Tal was gone, the girls and I had lots of girl time. On Saturday, we visited some stores and ate pizza for lunch at Cici's.

Savannah used her chore money to buy some fabric, needle, and thread at Michaels. She used the sewing skills she learned in art class to hand-sew a pocket:

On Sunday, the girls rode the zipline at the park in our neighborhood:

We haven't had air conditioning at our house in over two weeks, so we've gone swimming several times this week at the Y pool in our neighborhood. While we cooled off at the pool this afternoon, Hadley learned how to swim between my legs underwater!
