IL Road Trip: Part 3 (New Year's Eve)

On New Year's Eve, Grandma Judy, Aunt Renee, and I took Savannah and Hadley to the Peoria Playhouse, which is a local kids museum. For a couple hours, the girls loved cooking in the kitchen, playing in the sand and water, and building with recycled materials. Playing indoors at the kids museum was a fun way to burn off some energy on a cold winter day!

Cooking in the kitchen with Hadley and Grandma Judy

The museum had a kids workshop, where Savannah practiced hammering nails and screwing screws into a block of wood:

Savannah and Aunt Renee used recycled materials, including pinecones and cardboard, to create jewelry and art:

Savannah and Hadley loved playing with kinetic sand on the heated porch outside:

Kinetic sand is 98% sand, but Dawn dish washing detergent and corn starch are added so the sand doesn't stick to anything and make a mess. It's amazing!

(As a side note, Savannah loved Kinetic sand so much that she used some of her Christmas money to buy Kinetic sand at Target when we returned to NC.)

Water Play

At about 8:00 P.M., we celebrated 2017 by lighting sparklers and fountains at Grandma Judy's house:
