Australia Trip: Perth

Part 2 of our Australia trip--Perth. From Sydney, we flew across the country to Perth in Western Australia. In Perth, we experienced 100-degree heat and tons of annoying flies. Haha! We dipped our toes in the (cold) Indian Ocean, went sand boarding down the sand dunes, fed the kangaroos, and petted a koala and wombat. We also visited Fremantle Prison for convicts sent to Australia. Perth is one of the most isolated major cities in the world.

We used our rental car to take a day trip to the coastal town of Fremantle.

There were jokes around Fremantle about the town being used for thieves and convicts.

Australia proudly promotes and celebrates Christmas.
We didn't see any "Happy Holidays" signs.

In Fremantle, we stopped at the beach and put our toes in the (cold) Indian Ocean.
The turquoise water was beautiful!

In Perth, we stopped at Optus Stadium, where Aussie Rules Football is played.
(Tal is a huge fan of Aussie Rules Football.)

Next to Optus Stadium, we walked on the Two Swans pedestrian bridge that crosses the Swan River and resembles two swans.

We used the laundry room at our hotel to wash our clothes.

We took a 12-hour bus tour around Western Australia. We stopped at a wildlife park, where we fed the kangaroos. What a cool experience!

The kangaroo fur was soft!

We used the back side of our hand to pet the koala (that was eating eucalyptus leaves).

The wombat's fur was rough.

Tal went sand boarding down the sand dunes (on a 100-degree day!).

The sand was blowing when Tal was sand boarding!

For lunch, we ate fish and chips and wagyu burgers at a restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Australia Trip: Sydney

One amazing trip to Australia. 12 days. 3 cities (Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne). 7 flights. 50 hours on airplanes. 24,583 miles flown. In Sydney, the five of us attended Hillsong Church, climbed 1,332 steps to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, visited the Sydney Opera House, and ate fish and chips at Bondi Beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was a trip of a lifetime filled with so many wonderful experiences and memories!

Looking haggard after a day of traveling. 5 carry-on suitcases. 5 backpacks.

The flight from Los Angeles to Sydney was 14.5 hours.

4 different time zones on our trip. We slept when we could to avoid jet lag.

We crossed the International Date Line. Australia was a day ahead of the United States.

Tal did a great job driving on the left side of the road.

So thankful for family memories!

We climbed 1,332 steps to the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge. It took us 3 hours round trip.

With a tour guide, a harness, and a jumpsuit, we reached the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Check out the view of Sydney Opera House behind us.

We attended Hillsong Church in Sydney.

It was late spring (approaching summer) in Australia.

We took a tour bus ride and saw sights around Sydney. We ate fish and chips at Bondi Beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

We spotted Tal's name on a building in Sydney.
