Fort Macon Hike

This weekend our family celebrated my niece Harper's 8th birthday. On Saturday, the 8 of us hiked 3.7 miles by the marsh and on the dunes at Fort Macon State Park. At the end of the hike, we walked down to the beach and put our toes in Beaufort Inlet, where the sound and ocean meet. It was a beautiful spring day for some quality family time, fresh air, and exercise!

Cousins Harper (8), Hadley (6), and Savannah (12)

After our hike, Savannah and Hadley played at Aunt EJ and Uncle Benny's house. Aunt EJ texted me these sweet photos and messages from Hadley.

Hadley: "I love you Savannah. Best sister ever."

Hadley: "Uncle Benny, I love you! Hadley"

Covid Chronicles: Part 25

March 13 marked one year since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. It has been a long, stressful, and exhausting year. Our family has been impacted so much by the pandemic, but we continue to persevere, count our blessings, and believe that brighter days are ahead.

The girls and I hiked at the park in our neighborhood.

Tal and I participated in a head sizing study. We got our heads measured, so our measurements can be used to design hats in the clothing industry. Tal and I each received $50 for participating in the 20-minute study.

Hadley loves riding her new bike that she received from Grandma Barbara as a Christmas gift. Hadley loves the hand brakes!

In a couple hours, Savannah put together the 700-piece lego set that she received as a birthday gift from Grandma Barbara.

Hadley and I went hiking on the Neuse River Trail. We loved climbing the rocks and admiring the rushing rapids and waterfalls.

Savannah used so much creativity to design these complex Perler bead creations.

When Hadley and I played hide-and-seek, Hadley hid behind the baskets and pillows in our living room.

Hadley and I snuggled in bed, while she read some books to me.

Over the last couple years, Savannah has earned bonus points at the orthodontist's office. She recently cashed in her points for gift cards from Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Over the last couple months, Hadley has been reading from a boxed set with 25 nonfiction books that reinforced 25 sight words. Hadley is ready to move onto the next reading level!

Tal and I color coordinated our church outfits on Palm Sunday.

Reservoir Hike

Our family hiked 4 miles with Grandma Barbara around the Reservoir and through the woods. During our 2-hour hike, the girls did a great job navigating tree roots, crossing streams, and climbing hills. It was a beautiful day to get some fresh air and exercise and spend quality family time in nature!
