Coronavirus Chronicles: Part 3

Our family completed our 6th week of social distancing and our 2nd week of online teaching and learning. Also, this week the governor of NC announced that schools will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. That means that Savannah and I will be doing online learning at home until June 11.

Due to the coronavirus, playgrounds are closed, but parks and trails are open to the public. A few times this week, the girls and I got some fresh air and exercise at the park in our neighborhood.

At the park in our neighborhood, we discovered a path that led to Falls Lake.

The beach was deserted, and the girls had the best time throwing rocks and sticks into the lake.

Walking back to the park from Falls Lake

This afternoon our family explored a new park, where we hiked 1.5 miles and discovered several beautiful streams and waterfalls.

Savannah has spent many hours reading on our porch.

My principals gave me a Panera Bread gift card for Media Specialist Appreciation Week. The girls and I enjoyed picking up lunch from Panera and eating lunch on our porch.

Hadley napped in Tal's truck:

While we've been quarantined, our family has played many rounds of Uno.

This week Hadley wanted to camp in our walk-in attic for a couple hours. She brought her pillows and blankets, as well as her lunch box, lantern, and toothbrush. She was prepared!

Tal has been sprucing up our yard. This weekend he spread a truckload of mulch in our front flower bed.

Home Gym: Reveal

While I've been quarantined, I finished our home gym! Over the last few weeks, I've painted the room, hung art (with Tal's help), and added white curtains.  Our home gym, which used to be a formal living room, is one of the first rooms you see when you enter our home. Our goal was to keep our gym simple and uncluttered but decorate it with coordinating paint, curtains, and artwork, so that it flows with the rest of our home.

Coronavirus Chronicles: Part 2

Our family completed our 5th week of social distancing and our first week of online teaching and learning. We are counting our blessings and giving thanks for the slow mornings, relaxed schedule, and extra family time.

Savannah and Hadley used an ironing board to hold up their blanket tent in our living room.

The girls loved sleeping in their tent two nights! They said the tent was so warm and cozy with their sleeping bag and lots of blankets and pillows.

After we finished online learning, the girls and I played at the park in our neighborhood.

A couple weeks ago, I painted our dining room Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams. This weekend Tal helped me hang the artwork. I also ironed, hung, and hemmed Ikea's Lenda curtains. The room feels brighter with white curtains!

Also, this weekend we picked up some frozen yogurt.

Then, we climbed Mount Trashmore (a former landfill that is now a park). During the 1-mile round-trip hike, we enjoyed the fresh air, sunshine, and exercise.

Mount Trashmore is one of the highest points in our county

It was very windy!
