A couple weeks ago, Savannah wowed us when she sat up with some help from Mommy and Daddy.
Last week, Tal and I clapped when Savannah, surrounded by pillows, sat up on her own for a few seconds before she toppled over.
This week, we're cheering because Savannah, who is 5 1/2 months old, can sit up (without pillows) for 10-15 minutes on the floor, couch, or bed.
Even more, Savannah is learning how to play while sitting up. We're so proud of our little girl!

Open Wide!
During the 4th of July weekend, Savannah tasted solid food (some soupy rice cereal) for the first time! Savannah tried many times before she finally figured out how to work her tongue, so she could slurp the cereal from the spoon and swallow.
Over the last three weeks, Savannah has been eating solid foods 2-3 times each day. She's been sampling some other new foods, including oatmeal and barley.
As you can see below, Savannah loves sitting in her big girl chair and making a big ol' mess at meal time. :-)

Remembering Dad
Today I'm thinking about my dad who passed away two years ago today. He was 57 years old.
Ironically, just nine weeks before my dad passed away, everyone was happy and healthy at our wedding. It's a blessing that my family was together at our wedding and that we have many happy memories and photos from our last time together.
Dad was a talented artist who made Valentines for my class one year in elementary school. When I was a little girl, I remember watching the Chicago Cubbies, Bears, and Bulls with my dad. Dad enjoyed jamocha milkshakes from Arby's and raspberry shakes from Dairy Queen. My dad always said he wanted a Corvette when I asked him what he wanted for his birthday or Christmas.
As I think about my dad today, I'm saddened that he never had the opportunity to become a grandpa or meet Savannah. I know my dad would have loved Savannah.

Fan Club
When Tal bought our house 3 1/2 years ago, none of the three bedrooms had overhead lighting. For that reason, last year Tal and our friend Craig (who's an electrical engineer) ran wires through the attic and installed a ceiling fan in the master bedroom.
Earlier this week, Tal and Craig wired and hooked up a ceiling fan in Savannah's bedroom...
...and in the office/guest bedroom.
Also, Tal and Craig replaced the gold 1980's ceiling fan in the living room with the one below:

Beach Babe
We stayed in Salter Path during the 4th of July. During our visit, Savannah went "swimming" in the ocean for the first time!
Take a look at our beach bound beauty:
In the picture below, Savannah seemed more interested in eating and playing with her sunglasses than her first dip in the ocean. :-)
Savannah's first time in the ocean lasted less than five minutes. She was having a grand ol' time until a big wave soaked her from head to toe. Poor girl! Be assured, however, that Savannah was back to her usual happy, playful self after crying and drying off for a few minutes. :-)
