OBX Birthday Beach Trip: Part 2 (Jockey's Ridge)

On May 3, Amanda and I checked-out of our hotel and then explored some local sights, including Duck Donuts, a couple souvenir shops, Jockey's Ridge State Park, and Bodie Island Lighthouse.

Our first stop was Duck Donuts, which specializes in warm, customizable cake donuts. For our family, I got a half-dozen donuts that included some cinnamon and sugar donuts (our favorite!), as well as a maple frosted donut topped with bacon and a strawberry frosted donut topped with sprinkles.

Amanda picked out a citrus-inspired collection of donuts that included a key lime donut and a blueberry pancake donut.

One of places that Amanda and I visited was Jockey's Ridge State Park, which has the largest sand dunes in the eastern US. The sand dunes resembled the desert, and while we were climbing Jockey's Ridge, Amanda and I thought about how the Israelites must've felt wandering in the desert for 40 years. The sand dunes are one of God's amazing creations!
