On the Move

If everything goes smoothly, this will be our new our house by Thanksgiving! Built in 2000, our new house has 4 bedrooms and about 3,200 square feet.

Since Tal and I plan to live in this house for the next 20-30 years, we tried to consider all of our current and future needs before we bought it. Our new house has everything on our wish list, as well as a few extras:
  • Great location!
  • 4 bedrooms
  • 2.5 bathrooms
  • less than 10 years old
  • open layout
  • bonus room
  • first floor master bedroom
  • laundry room on the main level
  • screened-in porch
  • decent-sized backyard
  • over-sized garage

Dining Room

Most importantly, our new house is in our preferred school zone for Savannah. Tal and I feel confident that Savannah will attend one of the three elementary schools in our neighborhood. We love the idea of Savannah playing with the same kids who go to her school and our church.

Formal Living Room
(which we're thinking about turning into a bedroom)

When Tal and I bought this house, we made two compromises. First, both of us will have longer drives to work (30 min for me and 40 min for Tal). Also, because it'd be a 30 min drive to our current church, we'll be looking for a new church (that's preferably less than 10 min away). However, after months of house research and consideration, Tal and I feel comfortable with our decision.

Kitchen

Although the house is a foreclosure, it's in good condition. All we need to do before we move in is clean the house and shampoo the carpet. (We've hired a professional crew to take care of both of these things the day before Thanksgiving.)

Eat-In Kitchen

In the coming years, our house will need some TLC. For instance, we'll have to paint the interior since most of the rooms have wallpaper or tacky wall murals. Also, we'll need to replace the carpet and refinish the hardwoods. We'll replace the brass fixtures and hardware, too. However, Tal and I actually love the idea of fixing up the house and making it our own in years to come.
